Giving and Legacies
We are extremely grateful that people often remember the work of the church in wills and legacies. Over the past few years this form of giving has allowed much to be done that otherwise would not have happened. Some of the major restoration work on the Tower at St. Mary’s was funded in this way. Such generous gifts over the past 10 years alone have amounted to over £300,000.
At the 3 churches in the Mirfield Team Parish, we welcome all gifts in Wills, however large or small, and we promise to use your gift to make a difference in our parish. Our PCC legacy policy is to use gifts to help fund significant development projects, whether buildings, equipment or staff.
Since needs change over the years, we encourage you to leave a gift in your Will for the general purposes of the parish rather than for a restricted purpose. We will discuss possible uses of your gift with your executors when the time comes, bearing in mind your known areas of interest in the church (e.g. music, buildings, children and youth, overseas mission or aid) and the church’s priorities at the time.
You can be confident that your gift will be used to make a real difference to our future mission and ministry.
We will acknowledge gifts in whatever way the donor and/or his/her executors feel most appropriate too. Equally, we can make sure that gifts remain anonymous if the donor prefers.
If you would like to talk to someone in confidence about the sorts of purposes your gift might fund, and how (if) you would like your gift to be acknowledged, contact the Vicar.
If you would like to make a gift to our church in memoriam, please come and discuss this with us too. It can be a wonderful and appropriate way to remember a loved one.

Fundraising – 100 Club
Coronavirus has greatly affected the financial reserves of Mirfield Team Parish. We still have a number of monthly payments to make. Without the weekly collections at services, the fundraising events, and fees from weddings it means our regular income has dried up.
The budget and strategy committee have discussed different ways to raise funds. One suggestion was to set up a ‘100 Club’. Several Churches have adopted this as an alternative way of giving and there is also the possibility of you winning a prize. Instead of buying a National Lottery ticket, please consider joining the 100 Club which means you will be supporting the Team Parish.
This is how it works:
- You become a member of the scheme by paying £5 per calendar month (£1.25 per week). The ideal way to do this is to set up a Standing Order from your bank payable to Mirfield Team Parish.
- The rules allow for part of the fund to be awarded in prize money. Every month there will be a draw and immediate payments will be made to the winners.
- There will be two special draws in July and December when the prize money will be increased, giving added interest.
- The target is for the 100 club to have 100 members, the more people you have the more the prize money is awarded.
- Initially, to get the club started and make the prizes worthwhile, we would require at least 50 members, this would give three prizes each month of £50, £20, and £20. In July and December, the prizes will be increased to £200, £75 and £25.
- At this time, I am trying to find out who would be interested in joining the ‘100 Club.’
If you are interested, please contact me with your name and contact details. Dependent on the response I will send out application forms in due course.
